An Update

I really hate making posts without pictures, but I swore I'd post more often so I am. I would have updated last week but I had to take an unexpected to trip to Michigan, so it officially doesn't count in my once a week quota.

Speaking of Michigan, when I left in August I mentioned that I was planning a trip to Threadbear in Lansing. I never made it to Lansing because my parents live about an hour and a half away in Saginaw, and there was only one day when I would have been able to make the trip. No one could understand why I would want to drive all the way to Lansing to go to a yarn store. Imagine that! I tried to explain that it is not a regular yarn store, but they just didn't understand. I still have never been there myself, but I will make the trip no matter what when I'm in Michigan for Christmas!

We headed up north to Cross Village for vacation the rest of the week I was there. Prior to our trip I had searched online for Northern Michigan yarn shops and I had found the Dutch Oven Bakery and Yarn Shop in Alanson, MI. We decided to stop by on our way to the grocery store in Petoskey one day and boy am I glad we did! I was really impressed by their selection. This is where I spent my birthday money on the Noro Kureyon #116 for my poncho and the Debbie Bliss Alpaca Silk in #11 (Claret) for the Lara sweater. It was really hard to make a decision in this store. My dad and husband sat around in the bakery half of the store while my mother, sister and I were looking at yarn for at least an hour. Needless to say we left the place with a couple of pies, several cookies, and some cinammon rolls along with lots and lots of yarn.

Anyway, if you are ever in the area I highly recommend the Dutch Oven. The baked goods were good too!

I am about two-thirds of the way through Lara, and I will try to post a progress picture over the weekend. I'm about to start the armhole shaping on the back of the Ribby Cardi as well.

Have a great Thanksgiving!
